« back to classes page
This free, one-hour session is an interactive discussion led by a Dementia Friends Champion. Participants will learn the basics of dementia, including what it is, what it’s like to live with the condition, and practical tips for communicating with those affected. This is not a training session. Everyone who attends is encouraged to turn their new understanding into a meaningful action that supports someone in their community living with dementia. Your action can be big or small—every effort makes a difference!

Notice

Please read:  Dementia Friends is an international movement dedicated to transforming the way people think, talk, and act about dementia. Originally developed by the Alzheimer’s Society in the United Kingdom, this initiative has expanded throughout Iowa and across the United States. By increasing community understanding of dementia and its impact on families, we can all play a role in improving the lives of those affected. In Iowa, the program is administered by the Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging in collaboration with the Iowa Association of Area Agencies on Aging.
