Compass? Check. Map? Check. That’s all? Yes! Orienteering is a competitive sport that developed out of a once necessary life skill, pre-GPS. Today, orienteers find their way to multiple checkpoints across rough country with only the aid of a map and compass, the winner being the one with the shortest elapsed time to completion. At the first session we will learn the map and compass reading skills, and at the second, we’ll meet at Bailey’s Ford Park to experience the exhilaration of successful way-finding.
