Throughout this independent study course, it prepares the participant to apply cavity liners and bases and desensitizing agents.

At the completion of the instructional unit, the participant will be able to: (1) Identify the function/use of each of the materials. (2) Discuss the compatibility of each material with natural tooth structure and other dental materials. (3) Recognize factors that will alter the material's properties and clincial performance. (4) Manipulate and apply each material to clinical competency.

Please read: To be eligible, participants must comply with 1 (one) of the following:
(1) Hold an Active dental hygiene license in Iowa; or
(2) Hold an active dental assistant registration, AND comply with at least one of the following: (a) Be a graduate of an accredited school; or (b) Be currently certified by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB); or (c) Have at least three months of clinical practice as a registered dental assistant; or (d) Have at least three months of clinical practice as a dental assistant in a state that does not require registration.

Minimum number of total hours:
Didactic hours: 1
Lab hours: 1 with a minimum of two experiences
Clinical/Patient: Minimum of 5 patient experiences in each one of the functions under observational supervision.
Continuing Education Units: 7 (1 hr. didactic, 6 hrs. clinical)

Tuition: $99.00
