How do I find a class on the website?
To search for a class, you do not have to be logged in or have a profile. To search for a class, if you know the class ID number, type it into the search field, "Search for a class," and click GO, located in the upper right-hand corner of the website. In this same search field, you can also type in a keyword to find existing classes. Another option to search for classes is to select All Classes on the left-hand side of the screen and search under the appropriate Category or Subcategory. How do I create my profile?

To utilize online registration, view your profile and classes, first-time users must click LOGIN/CREATE ACCOUNT. If you are a NEW student, click on Create New Profile. This will take you to the profile creation screen, where you can create your own username, password, and profile. If you have created a profile previously, click on Sign in and Login. How do I update my profile?

You may edit or update your student profile at any time. After signing in, access the link entitled My Profile to change any of the information. When you are finished with your edits, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Submit. How do I register and pay for a class?

There are several ways to register and pay for Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) Business and Community Solutions classes, including in person, online, or by phone. Acceptable payment includes Visa®, MasterCard®, or Discover®. If you choose to pay in person or by mail, you may also pay by cash or check. Can I register for a class that is full?
Some classes have a maximum class size and for specific reasons, that maximum number must be adhered to. If you wish to be considered for registration in a class that is currently full, you can request to be added to a waiting list by signing in online and clicking Add to Waiting List next to the class that is full. If an opening becomes available, Business and Community Solutions will contact you to finalize your registration. 


Can my employer pay for my course?
Yes, your organization can be invoiced for all of the class fees. To do so, the organization must call or email with approval and/or verification and indicate which charges (tuition, fees, books, etc.) should be included. Any charges not covered by your organization are your responsibility. How do I access funding or make payments?
To reserve a seat in a class, payment must be received in full at the time of registration. Opportunities may arise through grant funds to assist students. For eligibility for grant funds or to discuss payment plan options, please contact Business and Community Solutions: 563.562.3263, ext. 1399, between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday - Friday.


How do I print a receipt?

To print a receipt, sign in and select My Transactionslocate your class. Under Action, select Print View, then print your receipt. Where can I find where my class will be held?
The class confirmation email you received upon registration has the class location, including city, building, and room. The class location can also be found by logging into your student profile, under the Menu tab, Current Registrations.


How do I access my Brightspace Online Class? 
All students who need access to Brightspace for online class materials will be sent an email with login instructions prior to class start.  Students must login through the Business and Community Solutions website (www.nicc.edu/solutions).  This email will contain information regarding your username and link to set your password. Enter your username and password. Once you are logged in, go to the left-hand side under Menu, then click Current Registrations. Find your class under Class Name and click on GO TO CLASS under Class Location. You are now logged into the Brightspace portal, where you will find your class under My Courses. If you experience difficulties logging in or accessing your class, please contact Business and Community Solutions: 563.562.3263, ext. 1399, between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday - Friday.


Do you have a High School Equivalency Program or English Language Services? 
For assistance with High School Equivalency (HiSET) or English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes, please contact the Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) program at Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC).

  • General Program Requirements:  Participants must be at least 16 years of age. Individuals must not be currently enrolled or required to be enrolled in a secondary school. (Those aged 16–18 must provide official documentation of withdrawal from their high school).   All participants are required to complete a comprehensive orientation and an initial skills assessment (testing) to determine eligibility and appropriate class placement.  Instruction is typically provided at no cost to the student, funded through state and federal AEL grants.

  • Program Options:  HiSET Preparation: Instruction for adults who do not have a high school diploma and wish to earn their High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED).  ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages): Instruction designed to help adults improve their English speaking, reading, listening, and writing skills.

What is the refund policy?
If a class is canceled by NICC, a full refund will be issued. No refund will be given if the participant cancels 5 business days or less prior to class start date. How do I print a transcript?
To print an unofficial transcript, sign in and select My Transcript from the menu bar on the left side of your screen. In the upper left corner of the export link, select the format you would like and print. For transcripts prior to 2011 or If you need an official transcript, please contact Business and Community Solutions: 563.562.3263, ext. 1399, between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday - Friday. There is a fee for an official transcript.

 

Inclement Weather
Your instructor will share the inclement weather policy with you during the first class. If the location of your class is closed, your class is canceled and you will be notified by NICC BCS Staff. Inclement weather class information may also be communicated via local radio and television stations or you may call Northeast Iowa Community College at 563.562.3263 ext. 1399 or visit www.nicc.edu


When is a class canceled?
NICC Business and Community Solutions makes every effort to maintain the schedule of classes as announced. However, we reserve the right to cancel classes, change instructors, switch rooms, and combine classes when necessary without previous announcement. Can I purchase gift certificates for classes?
Gift certificates are available for purchase online for a dollar amount that can be applied to a class of the recipient’s choice. For more information, click Purchase a Gift Card or contact Business and Community Solutions: 563.562.3263, ext. 1399 between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday - Friday.

What is the uniform Policy for Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and where do I purchase scrubs?
CNA Clinical uniform requirements:
a. Clean navy-blue scrub top and navy-blue scrub pants
b. Clean non-skid shoes or sneakers with clean shoelaces. Shoe style must have closed toes and heals (no clog-style or sandals)
c. Clean socks
d. NICC provided name tag/badge identifying the individual as a student worn at all times during clinical
e. Watch with a second-hand
Students may purchase the  CNA clinical uniform at any location of their choice. The uniform does not have to be brand new if a student is able to borrow one. Suggestions for places to purchase uniforms include Walmart, Amazon, Target, Farm & Fleet and Uniform Advantage.
