This State of Iowa approved class is the first step toward a career helping others in healthcare settings. It prepares students for employment as a nurse aide and may be a prerequisite for admission into nursing programs. The fast-paced combination of classroom, hands-on lab and off-site clinical experience addresses basic nursing and personal care skills, patient rights and communication. Special attention to mental, physical and social health of geriatric and special populations is included. Students must pass a background check that includes criminal, adult/child abuse and sex offender status prior to clinical experience. Documentation of the following must be submitted a minimum of one week prior to your clinical start date: Influenza (Flu) Vaccine, Baseline Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and a COVID-19 Vaccine or a student declination form for the Covid-19 vaccine.

Notice

Please read:  MANDATORY ORIENTATION: Tuesday, January 7th at 3:30 pm at NICC (Manchester Center) BOOKS: Included in the class fees and provided to students at orientation. ATTENDANCE: Per state regulations, students must attend 76 total hours (not including scheduled breaks) and minimum GPA of 78% in lecture, and pass lab and clinical in order to receive a certificate of completion. Instructors will not make-up time with students if a student is absent. COMPLIANCE: Students must complete a background check release form at orientation and submit required health documentation: Documentation of the following must be submitted a minimum of one week prior to your clinical start date: Influenza (Flu) Vaccine, Baseline Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and a COVID-19 Vaccine or a student declination form for the Covid-19 vaccine. For questions, contact the Compliance Coordinator by calling 844-642-2338, ext. 2346 or emailing whited@nicc.edu.
