Our course has been designed to meet or exceed the National Standard Curriculum for Emergency Medical Technician as developed by the United States Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This course prepares the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) student to provide pre-hospital assessment and care for patients of all ages with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Areas of study include an introduction to emergency medical services, roles and responsibilities of EMT’s, anatomy and physiology, medical emergencies, trauma, special considerations for working in the prehospital setting, and providing patient transportation. Upon successful completion of this course, graduates are eligible to seek national certification as an EMT through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
MANDATORY ORIENTATION is scheduled for October 23, 2024 at the Elkader Fire Department from 6pm-10pm. You can not attend the course unless you attend this orientation! Please be sure to bring a laptop to the orientation as well as a writing utensil. Your state issued driver's license or ID would also be suggested.
