The CNA skills exam models a realistic nurse aide assignment and requires demonstration of competency. To be placed on the Iowa Direct Care Worker Registry, students must achieve a minimum of 70% on BOTH the skills competency and written exams. Candidates have up to three attempts to pass the exam. If unsuccessful in those three attempts, they must re-take the 76-Hour CNA class prior to further testing.
