Driver Education is designed to help novice drivers develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to become safe, low-risk, responsible drivers. To satisfy the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, students must attend and successfully complete 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours of behind-the-wheel (BTW) driving experience.

Please read:  Due to Covid 19, the Iowa DOT is temporarily allowing students to attend the classroom portion of High School Driver's Education course in person via remote access. For the NICC course, the following technology will be required: Personal computer, I-pad or laptop (all with webcam access) Active email account (school district email account may not be used) Internet access Cell phone with text messaging Students register online or by calling 844-642-2338, ext. 1399. Attendance is required at all classroom and behind-the-wheel (to be scheduled) sessions. Make certain your schedule is clear for the duration of the course. No exceptions. You must have a valid driver’s permit before registration. After you have completed the registration process, please notify the Disability Services Office at 844.642.2338 ext.1258 (Calmar) or 2280 (Peosta) of any academic, medical or physical accommodations necessary for the student during this course.
