This keynote will honor the professionalism and dedication of your caregivers AND provide strategies to restore commitment to the field, rejuvenate spirits and to mine the Pandemic experience in an intentional way to fuel Post Traumatic Growth so that all can emerge evolved rather than traumatized from the experiences of the past year.

As the Pandemic rages on, so many healthcare professionals are now focused on how to “get through” the current surges with the hope of someday getting back to business as usual. What if the work at hand immediately following the world health crisis was not just about getting back to normal but about greatness and how to ensure that our valuable staff members and teams come through this crisis better for it, evolved by it, and changed from it. In order to garner the transformation that can come from profound challenges, the impact of the experiences need to be acknowledged, the heroic contributions recognized and the ordeal mined for learning and transformation.

This session will outline the role of the nurse and their leaders in restoring and refocusing talent in ways that will impact healthcare far into the future. By capturing hearts and minds, together we can make sense of the common experience in ways that will keep teams and individuals focused on the work at hand, all the while ensuring that the forces that will evolve team and team members is not curtailed but instead used for positive change.

Please read:  This opportunity is funded through a partnership with County Social Services CARES funding to provide training for essential workers in the Northeast Iowa Region. Log in instructions will be sent 2 days prior to training date. 1.5 Hours Nursing contact hours and CEHs/CEUs for other healthcare disciplines provided by IBON Provider #7. This course meets the continuing education renewal requirements for Iowa Social Workers. The last 1/2 Hour will include a Brain Health Presentation by Brain Health Now. Brain Health Now is a grass roots organization helping to end stigma surrounding mental illness and reframing the way we talk about it by using words such as brain health and brain disease. Words are very powerful and words matter, so when you use the words mentally ill, psycho, crazy etc. the stigma follows and creates a negative connotation for the 1 out of 5 people who are diagnosed with a brain issue. We invite you to join the movement in reframing the language to a more positive dialogue and help create a healthy and normal environment for everyone affected by brain health issues.
