Water. It seems like such a simple thing, but it's essential for life. "Water" you doing to keep this critical resource clean and available? Join this two-day camp for Grades 5-8 to observe the human impacts on our environment. You will start by creating and exploring a model of the pollutants that contaminate water bodies and affect living things, and then engineer appropriate solutions to clean your polluted models. Using microscopes, you'll observe local water samples to make predictions about water quality and test water samples from the surrounding area for the very pollutants that were represented in your model and reduced by your engineered solutions. Then you'll investigate human activities that positively impact water environments and living things. Explore how plants can help water quality, make your own “sock pet” and bird feeders, and use drone technology to capture evidence that humans are positively (and negatively) impacting the environment right here in Manchester.
