Career Pathway Certificate: Child Care Level 1

This career pathway certificate prepares students for entry-level work as caregivers in a child care center and/or transfer into the NICC Early Childhood Education diploma program.  Students will learn assessment strategies to plan developmentally appropriate curriculum and practice, and how health, safety, and nutrition influence the motor, cognitive and emotional development of young children.  The class meets the requirements of the Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Federal Child Care Development Block Grants.   Upon successful completion of this career pathway certificate, students will also have completed Mandatory Reporter and Pediatric CPR/First Aid.

Notice

Please read:  The class will not meet on May 29. There will be three classes that students will take online on their own time. Tuition Assistance and childcare support is available to those who qualify. In partnership with Greater Dubuque Development Corporation, the College will provide childcare assistance at no cost while students are in this class. Also, full-time employed graduates from this program may qualify for additional childcare support for up to 12 months at a licensed or registered childcare provider.
