This State of Iowa approved class is the first step toward a career helping others in healthcare settings. It prepares students for employment as a nurse aide and may be a prerequisite for admission into nursing programs. The fast-paced combination of online classroom, hands-on lab and off-site clinical experience addresses basic nursing and personal care skills, patient rights and communication. Special attention to mental, physical and social health of geriatric and special populations is included. Iowa mandates a background check to include criminal, adult/child abuse and sex offender status prior to clinical experience.

Notice

Please read:  The first day of this district-wide, Hybrid 76-Hour Certified Nurse Aide class is face to face Mandatory Orientation on May 30th, 2023 from 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm; students who do not attend Mandatory Orientation will not be allowed to continue the course. The breakdown of class hours: 30 hours Lecture (online), 20 hours Lab (on-site), 35 hours Clinical (on-site). This is not a self-paced course, students are to follow the syllabus and attend all classes and achieve a GPA of 78% or above in order to pass. BOOKS: Included. ATTENDANCE: Per state regulations, each nurse aide student must attend a minimum of 76 total hours of class (not including scheduled breaks), students must attend all classes. Instructors will not make-up missed time with a student. Lab and Clinical locations will be provided in one of the following locations: Waukon, Cresco, Calmar, Oelwein. Dates, time, and location will be determined at a later date. CLINICAL: Requirements are subject to change due to the COVID-19 pandemic and federal and/or state proclamations. Students must provide own pair of scrubs, watch with a second hand and clean, non-skid shoes. REFUNDS & GRADES: Students may receive a refund if they cancel from the class 5 business days before the first day of class. The class is Pass/Fail. A passing grade will receive a proof of completion certificate. If a student does not formally withdraw from a class, the final grade given is a Fail.
