High School Driver Education - Howard Winneshiek School District - Cresco

Please read:  Registration is now open for Howard Winneshiek Community School District students prior to the start of class on a first come-first served basis. Students and/or parents will register and pay with NICC staff members by calling 844-642-2338, ext. 4700 or in person at a NICC Center. Contact Howard Winneshiek Community School District for free/reduced tuition waiver information. If the course is full, students can request NICC staff members to place them on the waiting list. If openings are still available 4 weeks prior to the start of class, NICC will allow public registrations. ***This is an in-person class.*** Students need to possess their driver’s permit before the first class. Attendance is required for 30 hours of classroom, 6 hours of driving and 6 hours of observation. Times listed are class times only. A driving schedule will be established with the instructor, driving lessons may extend beyond the classroom dates and may be on any day/night of the week and/or weekends. Be ready to drive and have your permit with you on the first day of class and all driving lessons. Brightspace, Learning Management System, will be utilized for the course. Log-in information will be emailed within one week prior to the start date. The email address in the student account needs to be accessible to the student. Device Requirements Any computer, mobile device or tablet that is capable of running the latest version of the Supported Browsers (Newest versions of Google Chrome or Firefox, and Microsoft Edge are the supported browsers. Internet Explorer is no longer supported.) can navigate the Brightspace platform. A fast internet connection is encouraged for best results. If your course has a Zoom component, your device also needs a functioning webcam and microphone. After you have completed the registration process, please notify the Accessibility Services Office at 844.642.2338 ext.1258 (Calmar) or 2280 (Peosta) of any academic, medical or physical accommodations necessary for the student during this course.
