This instructional unit provides the participant with the basic knowledge of materials, procedures, and techniques necessary in performing the removal of adhesives.

At the completion of this expanded function, the participant will be able to: (1) Identify various methods and procedures used when removing adhesives. (2) Identify characteristics of adhesive. (3) Identify how, when, and where to use a fulcrum, mirror, and instrument intraorally.

Notice

Please read:  To be eligible, participants must  comply with 1 (one) of the following:
(1) Hold an Active dental hygiene license in Iowa; or
(2) Hold an active dental assistant registration, AND comply with at least one of the following: (a) Be a graduate of an accredited school; or (b) Be currently certified by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB); or (c) Have at least three months of clinical practice as a registered dental assistant; or (d) Have at least three months of clinical practice as a dental assistant in a state that does not require registration.

Lab hours: 1 
Clinical/Patient: 6 patient experiences
Continuing Education Units: 2
